I had the privilege of meeting Albie Sachs this morning, legendary anti-apartheid activist who spent 168 days in solitary confinement without trial and 22 years in exile - in England then in Mozambique. It was in Mozambique that a bomb attack by apartheid security services severely injured him, losing an arm and the sight of an eye. In 1994 he was appointed to the Constitutional Court by President Nelson Mandela where he served as a judge for 15 years. He welcomed us in his home for an interview and it was an emotionally overwhelming morning, listening to his stories and his thoughts on soft vengeance. Albie is 84 years young but, honestly, seems 20 younger. An extraordinary man who lived through such turbulent times. #historylesson #antiapartheidactivist #albiesachs #southafrica #heavychef

It's #mentalhealthawarenessday today. The world is broken and we're all somewhat broken and aching. It's good to remind ourselves that life is not always light - those are stormy skies and waters along with the rainbow. It's a messy journey and awareness and self-care are essential to putting the broken pieces back together.
